45-storey tower in downtown Kitchener approved by council

MAY 29, 2024 — A plan to build a 45-storey tower incorporating part of a former insurance building in downtown Kitchener has been approved.

Council approved the proposal Monday night, giving VanMar Developments permission to partially demolish portions of the former Economical Insurance headquarters building at 10 Duke St. W. and construct a 45-storey tower with commercial and office space and about 500 residential units.
